By setting up regional networks, we aim to expand the opportunities for interaction and collaborative action at the regional, national, and global levels. Through our activities we want to strengthen the ties between Responsible Leaders and mobilize Network members in those regions where we concentrate our work.
Since 2013, we have been building regional network structures all over the world. Today, we have networks in North America, the UK, India, France/Benelux, and Brazil – and since September of last year, also in the MENA region.
In all of these regions, the activities are supported and coordinated by so-called Network Drivers. These are Responsible Leaders who, on a voluntary basis, work to strengthen the network locally, for example by organizing workshops or Impact Sessions.

Responsible Leaders Meeting in Paretz
After extensively realigning our activities in the last few years, we now want to focus more strongly on the BMW Foundation Responsible Leaders’ regional network in Europe. We start in the German-speaking area and invite a small, select group of Responsible Leaders from Germany, Switzerland, and Austria to Paretz, Brandenburg. The goal of the meeting is to build and expand the Responsible Leaders Network.
The BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt promotes responsible leadership and inspires leaders worldwide to work towards a peaceful, just, and sustainable future. Through our activities, we aim to advance the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
Once a year, we bring together the Network Drivers of our Responsible Leaders Network to look back on the worldwide activities of the past year and plan the next steps for the global as well as regional networks. The meeting presents an opportunity to assess the need of the different regions and compare experiences. Representatives of the foundation are there to offer tools and support to guarantee a sustainable growth of the network.
This year, the meeting will take place in Sinal do Vale, a pristine location in the middle of nature near Rio de Janeiro.
Committed to promoting Responsible Leadership worldwide, we will put special emphasis in 2018 on widening our activities in India and strengthening the Indian community of Responsible Leaders. The meeting aims to deepen relationships and trust, get new partners involved in the network, and explore tools and plans for collective action in 2018. The meeting will be held back to back with the Global Pro Bono Summit in Mumbai in order to allow leaders to attend both events and to encourage the exchange between both communities.
