Heba Aguib joins the Board of Directors of the BMW Foundation

The BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt welcomes Heba Aguib, member of the BMW Foundation’s Leadership Team, to the Board of Directors. As of 1 August, Heba Aguib will continue the BMW Foundation’s successful work of promoting Responsible Leadership for a peaceful, just, and regenerative future. With her experience heading initiatives that combine innovation, technology, and philanthropy, and her longtime commitment to the BMW Foundation Responsible Leaders Network, Heba Aguib aims to sharpen the organization’s vision for the future.
Heba Aguib is joining the BMW Foundation’s Board of Directors with a deep understanding of the organization's work and values. Since 2019, she has been leading various teams at the
BMW Foundation. In 2021, she became an Executive and has since then been responsible for various work areas of the BMW Foundation, including its Sustainable Finance and Impact Investing departments, as well as the RESPOND program. Holding a PhD in mechanical engineering, she combines an international career in health tech and research & development with philanthropy and finance expertise.As a member of the global BMW Foundation Responsible Leaders Network, Heba Aguib has a long-standing dedication to the BMW Foundation’s mission. She believes that Responsible Leadership and cross-sector collaboration across cultures, countries, and communities are crucial to transforming our socio-economic systems. Heba Aguib’s new role as Board Member is an integral part of a larger transition in the BMW Foundation’s governance. After serving on the Board of Directors for more than five years, Frank Niederländer will lead the newly created Government Affairs Europe unit of the BMW Group, based in Brussels. Since his appointment to the BMW Foundation’s Board in 2018, Frank Niederländer has brought profound knowledge on industry transformation and sustainable innovation and finance to the organization’s strategic development. His contributions have been vital to positioning the BMW Foundation globally.Board Members Heba Aguib and Markus Hipp will work together to ensure a smooth transition and to strengthen the BMW Foundation for the future. Markus Hipp will leave the organization in December 2023. He has made fundamental contributions to the BMW Foundation, such as developing its leadership formats and building the Responsible Leaders Network. After 16 years on the BMW Foundation’s Board of Directors, Markus Hipp will shift his work in the philanthropic sector to mentoring and supporting the development of organizations that the BMW Foundation has empowered over the last decade.
