About Anna Schäffer
Anna Schäffer joined the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt in August 2019. As trained communications designer and design and marketing manager, she has since worked in the communications team at the Foundation’s Berlin office.
Raised in a seafarers’ family in the vicinity of Bremen, Anna has a soft spot for kale, so-so weather, and rain coats. Her enthusiasm for change, the unfamiliar, and new challenges also runs in the family. Having lived in 12 cities and four countries so far, there has, however, always been an anchor: Anna’s passion for human rights and her commitment to sustainability.
Already while studying for her B.A. in communications design, she was looking for intersections between marketing and social responsibility. For her bachelor’s thesis, she designed a magazine about sustainable clothing and has since spent a lot of time in thrift stores. Her fascination for Southeast Asia evolved while studying for a dual master’s degree in Media and Design Management and Non-Profit-Management in Wiesbaden and Bangkok. For her master’s thesis, she collaborated with refugees, social workers, and social entrepreneurs to find ways of promoting integration with the aid of visual communication.
Anna spent the early stages of her professional career in a variety of different advertising and design agencies. As a masterclass trainee with the BBDO Group Germany, she worked in Germany and Australia for brands such as the Australian Football League, Deutsche Bahn, smart, BMW, and Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge. In addition, she also worked as a barkeeper, editor, photographer, and project manager.
Anna is a passionate runner. She also likes boxing, surfing, Ashtanga yoga and (post-)punk rock.
