Honorary Professor Dr. Bolko von Oetinger has been with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) since 1974, first in Menlo Park, CA, and Paris, later in Munich. Since 2016, he has been vice chair of the Board of Trustees of the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt.
Bolko von Oetinger studied political science and business administration in Berlin and received an MBA from Stanford. In addition to working with BCG clients – specializing in strategy, organization, and innovation – , he was in charge of the Kronberg Conferences from 1981 until 2005. From 1983 until 1995, he served on the international Executive Committee, from 1994 until 1998 he headed worldwide marketing operations. In 1998, he founded the BCG’s Strategy Institute, which he directed until April 2008. He retired from active consulting in July 2008.
Since 1998, Bolko von Oetinger has been a guest lecturer in Strategic Management at Otto Beisheim School of Management near Koblenz, where he was appointed honorary professor in 2004. From 1999 until 2004, he was a member of the Advisory Council of the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He has published numerous articles and books on strategy. Bolko von Oetinger is, among other things, a member of the Advisory Board of the Wittenberg Center for Global Ethics.
