Prof. Dr.-Ing. Joachim Milberg, born 1943 in Verl, is a member of the Board of Trustees of the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt. Until August 2020 he was chairman of the Board of Trustees.
After studying production engineering at the State School of Engineering in Bielefeld and at the Technical University of Berlin, Joachim Milberg earned his doctorate in engineering in 1971. From 1981 to 1993, he was full professor of machine tools and business administration at the Technical University of Munich and head of the Research Institute for Machine Tools and Business Administration, which included the Center for Production Automation and Robotics in Munich and the Production Application Center in Augsburg. From 1991 to 1993, Professor Milberg was dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich.
From 1993 until 1998, he was a member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Production. From 1999 until 2002, he was chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG and, from 2004 until 2015, chairman of the company’s Supervisory Board.
