Maximilian Schöberl, born 1963 in Göttingen, has headed the Corporate and Governmental Affairs department of BMW Group since September 2006. He has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt since March 2014.
After training as a freight forwarding agent with Bayerische Lloyd AG and earning a degree in business administration, Maximilian Schöberl joined the ZDF where he worked, from 1991 until 1992, as an editor for the political program Studio 1 and its successor, Frontal, as well as the economic program WiSo. He was subsequently appointed head of Media and Public Relations of the CSU under the party’s then-chairman Theo Waigel. In 1998, Schöberl took up a management position with Kirch Holding. In 2003, he transferred to Vodafone Deutschland in Düsseldorf, where he served as Director of Corporate Communications and Governmental Affairs.
At BMW Group, Schöberl is responsible for all communication, sustainability, and political activities of the car manufacturer worldwide. Based at the company’s Munich headquarters, Schöberl directs the global communication efforts of all BMW locations in more than 150 countries.
