Professor Dr. Renate Köcher, born 1952 in Frankfurt am Main, is managing director of the Allensbach Institute for Public Opinion Research. She has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt since 2016.
Renate Köcher studied economics, sociology, and journalism in Mainz. In 1985, she earned her doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) in Munich with a thesis on “The Professional Ethics of German and British Journalists.” In 1977, Renate Köcher became a research associate at the Allensbach Institute and has been managing director of the Institute since 1988. Her research focuses on people’s willingness to pursue reforms and innovations, acceptance of new technologies, political analyses, and changing values. In 2003, Renate Köcher was conferred the title of professor.
In addition to numerous articles for economic and social publications, she is a regular contributor to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and also serves on several supervisory boards of major companies.
