Sven Schneider:
Stability in the Grid Is a Key Factor

"We need total stability in the grid," says Sven Schneider, Chief Financial Officer at Infineon. "That is the key factor for our manufacturing." He points out that during an energy breakdown in Germany some years ago, Infineon lost €25 million in just 20 minutes.
The company is a global semiconductor leader in power systems and IoT (Internet of Things) with over 58,000 employees operating in all major regions of the world. Infineon’s revenue in the fiscal year 2023 was more than €16 billion. Sven Schneider has been a member of the Management Board and Chief Financial Officer of Infineon Technologies AG since 2019. Born in Berlin, he studied business administration at the Universities of Regensburg, Nantes (France), and Trier where he received his doctorate in business administration. In 1995, Schneider began his professional career at Linde AG in the finance department. From 2000 to 2019, he held leading positions at Linde, lastly as Spokesman of the Executive Board, Chief Financial Officer, and Labor Director.
Sven Schneider | Infineon's CO2 reduction mission
During the 2025 Munich Security Conference, Schneider joined the Energy Security Hub @BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt Pavilion. At a firesite chat with Monika Schnitzer, Professor in Economics and the Chair for Comparative Economics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, he talked about technology openness. The key question was: Is the state the better entrepreneur?
The state is definitely the better administrator and bureaucrat – especially when it comes to documentation and regulations. In this interview, Schneider is making the case for more thoughtful and less bureaucratic regulations. In his opinion, it’s important to find out beforehand what stakeholders such as investors and recipients of reports really need. This way, their needs can be translated into "appropriate regulations." Infineon is committed to binding CO2 reduction targets. The company aims for carbon neutrality by 2030, primarily by avoiding direct emissions and increasing energy efficiency.
